CATV solutions Brief historical overview: The concept has markedly penetrated our every-day life since long. We know it under the name of cable television. The service created by the conversion of radio frequencies was a real break-through in the history of television broadcasting and the use of antennas became by now outdated. In addition to improving to near-perfection the quality of broadcast, the servicing by cable that followed the age of antennas, has brought about also the use of FM radios, the world of high-speed Internet and the possibility of better telephoning. The acronym of CATV is frequently used as the equivalent of Cable Television, though the whole story goes far back to sometimes around 1948, when huge central antennas started to emerge in small towns. From them, many cables directly carried the TV programs to the households. This was in fact for what the abbreviation CATV stood, and originally it meant Community Antenna Television CATV modules and Hybrids
